Andrew Hayim De Vries, a practicing artist, lives and works in 100 Hubble. As an artist, Andrew's focus is on exploring his cultural roots. 100 Hubble is included as one of his many 'projects', the 'Homeware' Project. Some would say that his 'project' is rather a life long obsession. Over the past 18 years, the local arts community, art students, friends and neighbors have helped Andrew to create his vision of an eclectic, environmentally friendly house made from 'urban rubble'. This rubble includes building material (like wooden decking), interior decorations (to the frosted glass door from the Fremantle Club), exterior decorations (such as awnings from the much loved Gino's Cafe), to dolls, toys and trinkets left by neighborhood children, in 'Lola', the container, now decorating the exterior of 100 Hubble. All these items trigger memories, of childhood, melding together a sense of play and exploration, to that of the local Fremantle history.

In 1977 Andrew graduated with a BA (Fine Art) from Western Australian University of Technology (Now Curtin University of Technology)

Over the years, Andrew has accumulated a vast teaching experience. From 1980 to 1997 he has worked lecturing in numerous positions in different institutions, including Claremont Art School, Curtin University and Metropolitan City College. Andrew's positions have included Lecturer in Drawing, Painting, Lecturer in Painting, Artist in Residence, Tutor in Printmaking, Drawing, to Painting Tutor at Casurina Prison.

Travel has been an important influence on his artwork and philosophies. He has traveled to Kashmir, India, Thailand, New Zealand, Israel, Central and Eastern Europe, amongst other places. Some of these influences are a strong present in 100 Hubble Accommodation.

Andrew's artwork is represented in the following collections: Art Gallery of Western Australia, Curtin University of Technology, University of Western Australia, Edith Cowan University, Holmes a Court Collection, Wesfarmers Collection, Artbank and Private collections (Australia and Overseas).
